Alia Science was developed by Dr. Jacob Silverstone, a Board Certified forefoot, rear-foot, and ankle reconstruction surgeon who’s trained under some of the top foot and ankle surgeons in the country. After graduating top of his class with multiple honors at The New York College of Podiatric Medicine, Dr. Silverstone completed his surgical residency at North Shore-LIJ Hofstra School of Medicine in New York, where he gained experience in sports medicine, trauma, and both elective and reconstructive surgery.
He continued his training alongside Fordham University’s team podiatric physician treating top athletes in their athletic program. He’s achieved multiple medical awards and honors and has served as the primary investigator in numerous clinical trials.
Today, Dr. Silverstone continues to bring his knowledge and expertise in cannabis to thousands of patients through Alia Science while also serving as HEMPONAIR’s lead in-house medical expert, combining his extensive experience in sports medicine, cosmetic restoration, pain management, rehabilitation, and functional reconstructive surgery with his passion for hemp, cannabis, and CBD in pursuit of integrative medicine for today’s active patient.

CBD, or Cannabidiol is a phytocannabinoid discovered in 1940. It is one of some 113 identified cannabinoids in the cannabis plant and accounts for up to 40% of the plant’s extract.
Cannabis or marijuana is cultivated for its high THC content (the chemical compound that makes you high) which is abundant in the flower of the cannabis plant. Industrial hemp is a variety of the cannabis family of plants and it contains over 60 cannabinoids but far less THC since it is grown for its long stalks and not flowering buds.
Industrial hemp produces much more CBD than cannabis and was legalized in the 2018 Farm Bill.
Not all CBD is the Same
Dr. Silverstone began using CBD after years of battling painful migraines. His own extensive research included lab testing over 100 random CBD oils! That includes brand names you probably already know. Dr. Silverstone realized not only were the oils out there mislabeled, but some contained no CBD compound at all! Furthermore, full spectrum products were claiming to contain 1000’s of milligrams or mg’s.
1000’s of mg’s of what? Turns out they included all the cannabinoids from the hemp plant, of which, only the CBD cannabinoid has been widely studied. Consumers who thought the full spectrum products were high potency CBD, were only getting 5-19% actual CBD content.
Even worse, many samples came back contaminated with heavy metals or chemical residuals. Dr. Silverstone realized his patients needed a pure product with accurate labeling to ensure the maximum absorption of the CBD compound.
