Frequently asked questions.
What is CBD?CBD is the abbreviation for Cannabidiol, a cannabinoid that naturally occurs in the cannabis and hemp plants. In cannabis (marijuana) CBD is one of approximately 113 phytocannabinoids. Industrial hemp (related to cannabis) has over 60 phytocannabinoids identified. Industrial hemp is primarily used for CBD extraction as it yields more CBD than the cannabis plant.
What are Cannabinoids?Cannabinoids are a unique group of chemical compounds naturally found in the human body (endo-cannabinoids) and also in the family of Cannabaceae plants (phyto-cannabinoids).
What are Terpenes?Terpenes are the primary constituents of the essential oils providing the scent and flavor of the plant. They may also have other functions such as protection of the plant.
How do Cannabinoids effect the human body?Cannabinoids are currently being studied and have shown to have the ability to interact with receptors of the Endocannabinoid System (ECS) in the body. More research is needed to determine the exact effects of Cannabinoids regarding human health benefits. So far, the CBD Cannabinoid has been the most widely studied compound, therefore, it remains the focus of the Cannabinoid industry.
What is THC?THC, or tetrahydrocannabinol, is the chemical responsible for most of marijuana’s psychological effects. THC stimulates cells in the brain to release dopamine creating euphoria. It also interferes with how information is processed in the hippocampus, which is part of the brain responsible for forming new memories. THC can induce hallucinations, change thinking, and cause delusions. On average, the effects last about two hours, and kick in 10 to 30 minutes after ingestion.
Is CBD Psychoactive? No. The CBD present in all strains of hemp is not a psychoactive compound. CBD will not result in any high or euphoric effect. THC is the chemical that gets you high. High quality lab tested CBD that does not include THC should not cause you to fail a drug test.
Is CBD Legal? On 20th December 2018 the Farm Bill, signed by President Donald Trump, declared that all “hemp” extracts (CBD) are legal agricultural products provided that they contain less than 0.3% THC.
What is Industrial hemp?Industrial hemp is the hemp plant which has been used historically to produce hemp seed oil, rope, paper, household items, clothing and now CBD extract. By law, industrial hemp strains must contain less than 0.3% THC.
What is isolated CBD?
Isolated CBD is pure CBD without the presence of any other cannabinoid. Essentially, just the CBD molecule is extracted from the hemp stalk, nothing else.
What is Full Spectrum CBD?Full Spectrum is often used to convey that the whole plant was used, not just stalk or stem. Compounds including cannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids, and fatty acids are included in full spectrum. Full spectrum can contain THC. It must be less than 0.3% to be considered legal otherwise it falls under the classification of medical marijuana.
What is Broad Spectrum CBD?Broad Spectrum is full spectrum with no detectable THC.
What is the Entourage Effect? The entourage effect is a non -medical term that has become popular on the internet. It is associated with a calming effect on the body after using full spectrum CBD oil. Many physicians believe this effect is simply the result of a slight high from the trace THC in full spectrum products. There is no documented medical study for the entourage effect as it is simply jargon used by companies selling full spectrum CBD.
What are the health benefits of CBD?Legally we are not allowed to make any health claims about CBD as the FDA has not cleared CBD as a certified supplement with benefits to the human body. We welcome the pending regulation by the FDA, as it will clear the way for CBD products to be produced with oversight. This is essential to protect consumers from products that are mislabeled, contain harmful chemicals or heavy metals, and have overstated potency claims. Our founder, Doctor Jacob Silverstone realized there are many benefits to other supplements that have already been clinically studied ingredients. Alia Science includes identified supplements such as turmeric, melatonin, ginger, feverfew, and B vitamins to support targeted usages such as for sleep, pain & inflammation, digestion, stress, anxiety, and general wellness.
How do I take CBD?Alia Science CBD is designed to consume orally. The recommended delivery is to place the CBD oil under your tongue and hold it there for up to 30 seconds. You will absorb more CBD sublingually as the acid in your stomach can break down the cannabinoid too quickly if you just swallow the oil right away.
What method is used to extract CBD in Alia Science CBD products? Our CBD is derived from the mature stalk of the hemp plant, C02 extracted, isolated and decarboxylated in order to give you pure active CBD (and no THC). While it is a common practice to use solvents or alcohol in conjunction with other methods, there are absolutely no solvents or alcohol used at any stage for our CBD products. Our CBD is lab tested for purity along with tests for heavy metals, pesticides, mycotoxins, mold, fungus, and water content.

I entered my P.O. Box address, why isn’t it working? We currently only ship to physical addresses. We apologize for the inconvenience.
My state is not located in the drop down at checkout. Why isn’t it working?Although Federal Law has determined that hemp derived CBD is legal, certain states have banned the sale of any form of hemp/CBD products. Additionally, certain states have banned the sale of edibles. To remain compliant with individual state laws, we have removed those states from our checkout cart. As legislation is fluent, we will continue to monitor progress in states that currently ban our products. We encourage you to reach out to your local and state government to advocate for their legalization of hemp derived CBD products.
